“Does Your Money Have You?”
Strange Tales—Part 3
Luke 12:13-21

To Make Sure My Money Doesn’t Have Me, I Must:

1. READY THE DEFENSE AGAINST GREED.
“‘…Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed…’”
v 15a

2. REMEMBER THE DEFINITION OF GREED.
“‘…Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed…’”
v 15a

3. RESIST THE DOMINATION OF GREED.
“…life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.’ And he
told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded
     an abundant harvest.’”  v 15b-16

4. RECOGNIZE THE DECEPTION OF GREED.

Greed Gives A Distorted View Of Ownership.
He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to
store my crops.’ Then he said, ‘This is what I'll do. I will tear
down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store
all my grain and my goods.’” v 17-18

Greed Gives A Disgruntled View Of Stewardship.
“And he told them this parable: ‘The ground of a certain
rich man produced a good crop.  He thought to himself,
‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’” v16-17

5. REALIZE THE DISAPPOINTMENT WITH GREED.
“But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be
demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared
for yourself?’  ‘This is how it will be with whoever stores up things
for themselves but is not rich toward God.’” v 20-21
